Yuck. Horrible football game. Didn't deserve the win. Too many mental errors to count. Timmeh is a biger fraud than SSK's QB. Wes Hills is an absolute beast. The most surprising thing is that they continued to use the successful running game. Probably the worst statistical game in Dane's career here. Conceding the wind in the fourth should be a firing offence. Too bad the team owner doesn't have the stones to do it. After we lose in Calgary, will Ottawa have Masoli back for our last 2 games?

I was thinking the same thing - but did a great job when it counted on the 8-min drive - as important drive as the drive against Winnipeg - Def is about to implode, Sask is about to grab all the momentum back, overcame 2 penalties (which were outrageous tonight) on the drive, gave the Def a chance to regroup and settle down and get back out there and play, I think this might’ve been even better game for them than the Winnipeg game - Ugly wins are still wins No matter how bad people think our players are (WR), hard to play when you don’t have your guys in, where we missing 3 WRs tonight?

If you count the ones on the field, we were missing 7 recievers tonight. Don't tell me Papi and Dunbar would make a major difference. That was a great drive in the fourth. It was completely idiotic to take the wind in the third.

They may not’ve but they are still the guys that we got - And Kiondre Smith didn’t get in Obviously, I’m holding out hope for them winning out and then making a run - can’t root for anything else!!!

I know coache - and you have more invested in this team than we do. After the season, I would like to talk to you about your REAL feelings, if at all possible. There are only a few guys I would keep for next year. This team simply doesn't have the depth. #IncompetentOrlondo had lightning in a bottle in 2019. There have been three years of serious decline (even the 2020 non-season).

Removed due to fear of retaliation on the other board.

I don’t even go on that board anymore - I’ve been an Offensive Coordinator for the last 24 years in Texas, I always take the ball - I know that the CFL game is way more reliant on the Specials and Kicking game than the level that I play - but I still take the ball whenever I get it, I don’t care if I’m playing in a monsoon - that possession to start the 2nd half ended in 3 points and we overcame 2 penalties - and we finished the 3rd quarter with them kicking the ball into the wind - it’s absolutely killed me the 8 other times we kicked off to start the game and 2nd half. I also think we have a organizational “fear” of the wind - like we can’t do anything when we’re going against it (we didn’t even try anything In the Grey Cup in the 1st going against the wind) - I can promise you, Tim Hortons isn’t the only place the wind blows - I (Dane) practiced against a constant 25mph wind on the Great Plains in North Texas in HS. It never stopped us from trying anything or running our Offense (We do what we do!!!) - that can be an organizational mindset as well!!

The biggest difference is the three downs vs four. Without Wes Hills playing as he did, we lose that game.
The team seriously lacks playmakers on both sides of the ball. Compare the quality of players from 2019 to now.

I thought about your comment about "more possessions" and wondered why we don't see this more in the NFL, it caused me to do some digging and almost every time a team defers they take the ball in the second half. On the flip side it's very common to kick off twice in the CFL, taking the wind in both long quarters. The only reasons I can think of are: - Most NFL stadiums in bad weather are domed (except the obvious Buffalo, GB, NY) - Much less punting, and much better punters in the NFL which can flip the field right away. I don't necessarily buy the argument that Steinauer based his decision on less wind, because we punted from the Sask 39 yd line in the 4th, which tells me he still respected the wind enough that our strong legged kicker wasnt going to try 46 yards into what wind was left. Either way i'd much prefer to debate these things over a win - execute the plays that matter and its much less of an issue.

Just got through with reading the comments over there. Pat & Expat are way out of line, but that's what they do when they have nothing else. Particularly disappointed with Expat, I used to enjoy his sarcasm, but he's gone off the plot. How f*cked is it that they can't conceive that you can be a fan, but still have valid criticisms of the team? Dane had an off night throwing the ball, hopefully he can rehab that plant leg issue. That long drive into the wind in the 4th Q was amazing. Whoever described Hills as our Stanback was bang on. I found it odd that Kiondre Smith didn't get a single rep on offence that I noticed, he's been our best by far Cdn receiver, although his last game was rough. Godwin should only improve with more reps. Johnson had a good night, he reminds me a bit of Addison in the way he fights for extra yards. As for the wind issue, I think Crash had it right, generally speaking. There are more possessions here than in the NFL, due to the kicking game rules and time clock differences. We've all seen the consequences of Steinauer not taking the wind in the 4th Q, he should know better by now, it's not his first season in this stadium. He got lucky that the wind died last night when it did. I doubt he had any intel that it was going to happen. Yeah, it was ugly, but any loss Sask takes is a good one. I can't stand that team and its fans, a number of whom were bemoaning the loss of Garrett Marino after this one. Yes, really.

It “never” happens down here - I know people that have lost jobs for making that “critical error”. It’s akin to mismanaging the clock. Like I said, it just kills me everytime they do it, and we’ve done it probably 3 times as often as any other team. I don’t necessarily agree that the punters are that much better in the NFL (obviously to a point) but that 10 extra yards is huge. You have to get 2 extra first downs to flip the field, with fewer downs.[/quote]

Like I said, it just kills me everytime they do it, and we’ve done it probably 3 times as often as any other team. Win the toss - take the ball - they will get the choice in the 2nd half and if they want the wind in the 4th, you take the ball again and just stole a possession. Lose the toss and they defer - take the ball - in the 2nd half, if they want the wind in the 4th, you get the ball again and stole another possession. Lose the toss and they take the ball - you get the wind the way you want it in the first half - if you have an “organizational fear” of the wind, in the 2nd half you can take the wind in the 4th, but you lose possession of the ball in the first and second half - and that’s unacceptable to me. I don’t necessarily agree that the punters are that much better in the NFL (obviously to a point) but that 10 extra yards is huge. Egbert had the audacity to tell me I'm wrong in two separate posts (after I mentioned that " I disagree with you" is a better way) about taking the wind - as if Orlondo magically knew the sind was going to die down in the fourth. Sorry for venting, but this has actually really triggered me. To the point my hands are trembling as I type this. I don't necessarily like to air my problems, but I fight anxiety and depression daily. I have physical disabilities (mostly from my military service) that have led to chronic pain that sometimes gets intolerable. While there is help on the horizon, the most I'm able to do at this point is try to keep afloat, and maybe I will be able to walk the dog every day instead of twice a week. My injuries and illness have forced the military to medically release me (I am going to school for a second career) so a huge part of my life is gone. It honestly feels as if my arm has been cut off.
This is why I may percieve things differently than others without a mental illness. By no means am I appologizing for it, because that's what my brain is telling my mind (the two are completely different things for me. My brain tells me I'm worthless, a failure, I will never be able to suppory my family, I will never succeed in anything in life, I am a drain on my wife's life, it would be better off for everyone if I "went away", etc.)
I am literally in tears typing this. That other site hepled keep me sane in 2005 when I was deployed to Syria for 6 months. When I came home for my R&R, I had the opportunity to meet many of you for a dinner and at a game. That led to more dinners/gatherings and some long-time friendships. We don't agree on everything (that would be pretty boring) but there wasn't this outright hostility we see these days - unless it was during the Austin era.

Either way i'd much prefer to debate these things over a win - execute the plays that matter and its much less of an issue. The NFL also has been slowly tailoring its game to eliminate as much actual play on kicking plays as possible for the last half decade or so. The CFL wants to encourage the return game, almost to the point of punishing a team that chooses to kick (15 yards on all no yards calls, penalties on kicks out of bounds between the 20s, starting on the 40 after a FG...(i may be muddling my point now... meh) etc etc etc) but hey, who knows, maybe Stein was 3D chessing the wind in the 4th Q, knowing Dane can throw as hard as he wants into the wind, and Fraudjadro would have to finesse with the wind to not overthrow....
