I know......it's the game plan. This has been the problem with the East division for the past 30+ years... But a historically weak division opens the door for the opportunity to dominate it for years on end like MTL in the early to mid 2000s. If you were serious about building something instead of .500 football improving the "gameday experience".

Back to punters: 3downnation.com/2022/07/10/new-punter-jon-ryan-believes-winless-ticats-have-a-great-shot-at-winning-the-grey-cup/A couple of takes: 1. Ryan wanted to play "close to the League minimum" in SSK, so I highly doube the team is paying him much beyond that; 2. Orlondo's talking about "timing" and "once he felt like he was in kicking shape to come up" make me think that Ryan WAS asking for too much and that he was -probably- not in TC- or Game-shape at the start of the season. If signing him is what it takes to get a competent place-kicker, then I'm all for it. I'm sure Laryea is sticking around here somewhere in case he falters.

I also hope that this will finally bring us a competent place kicker as well.
however like most recent moves, I'm not holding my breath.

Remember that was league minimum for his hometown team where he lives. Coming to Hamilton I would be surprised if he agreed to a deal like that given that he does not live in the city.

Hopefully this is a message to the entire team that none of them are beyond replacement at this point.

A team this prone to 2 and outs CANNOT be losing the field position battle every punt. Laryea was doing great, but I'll take that extra few yards from Ryan thanks. Especially with this team's rep for punt coverage

Especially with this team's rep for punt coverage I actually thought punt coverage has been one of their strongest areas this year. If Woods stays healthy I think we’ll out gain most of the other returners in the league. We have given up some yardage on kickoffs though. Overall I’d say Butler has done a good job with special teams. Once Ryan starts we’ll likely have Small doing kickoffs. I like his leg on field goals, have to see how much depth and air he can get under the ball on kickoffs.

I think we've got one of the better punt cover teams in the league, it's not like Ryan will be out kicking the coverage we've got enough talent on teams to contain. I'm just sick of going 2 and out, getting a good cover stop, forcing a 2 and out of our own, and still losing yardage on the exchange.

Ryan STILL isn't dressed. Is he a flop? Has he gotten to fat even for a punter? Is he still injured? Is the signing simply a distraction from the stupidity that has been reigning for two years?

That Ryan is a real "ratio buster". I shudder to think that they are keeping Domagala in to punt because he is the best option at that position right now. Why do I get the awful feeling that Stein lied to me when he said at the press conference announcing the signing of Ryan that the newly acquired punter would be punting in the next game.

Now Myko is defending DomaCRAPa as being a good punter. Apparently I'm not "rooted in reality".
