With Toronto getting World Cup games in 2026, That would have the Argos out of BMO for a minimum of 2 months.
Hamilton become a satellite home? Guelph? Moncton?

Should anyone be wondering how little influence the fed govt had in influencing this look no further than Quebec being shut out. Would have moved heaven and earth for MTL to get some games if they could.

Would have moved heaven and earth for MTL to get some games if they could. The biggest issue in this country is the lack of natural turf stadiums. This is going to be bad for Vancouver too, since they will probably have to vacate the PNE (or whatever it's called these days).
Edmonton could have been perfect, considering the size of Empire. Of course, I'm no expert on installing a FIFA-quality turf field on top of a Field Turf surface (unless they simply uninstall the Field Turf and "install" the sod), but this will mess up scheduling throughout that tournament...

BMO has a turf/grass mix. That won't fly. BMO will need another expansion, BC place will need grass and so you're right.. both teams will be displaced for a while. Fifa will never in a million years let a football team on their grass field, so they will be gone for months. Likely from the beginning of the season to at least July of not August. Edmonton wouldn't have worked due to tourism and infrastructure, and some idiot watermelon heads think they should have played in Sask. dork is right it was always going to be Van/Tor/MTL.

BMO has natural turf for the SOCCER field - the artificial turf is only in the football end zones, when they move the seating back.

It's grass with some artificial sewn in. That won't fly with Fifa.

Makes me wonder if there are any plans to shut down the League for the WC. Honestly, having two teams not being able to play at home for a month will mess up the scheduling for the entire League, with them having to cram in their home games at the start and end of the season. That, in turn, forces the OTHER teams to travel more during those times too, and host a bunch of games in a tighter window.
This, IMHO, is NOT good for the fans. Having two home games in a row isn't TOO difficult for people on a budget, but three or more might make them consider what games to go to.

It was meant to have less damage for football because soccer players complained about the Argos being there. Not sure how it worked out.
