Can you blame him?
Question is is it just posturing to get a better deal.
Real problem is if he truely wants to see free agency we may have to pull the trigger on someone else...

He’d be crazy not to at least see what other teams may offer. Always pictured him as a Calgary guy with his Texas background but I don’t think Bo is going anywhere. I could see Ottawa making a play for him. Who knows if the Argos are settled with MBT? Out west, I’d say Cody, Zach and Bo are likely locks to return. Edmonton has Arbuckle now. Could BC dump Reilly’s contract and make Evans an offer? They may not want to hitch their wagon to Nathan Rourke just yet. Evans extended with a team friendly contract and watched a guy like Arbuckle cash in on starter money with the Argos. He’s a young guy and wants to take care of his family and who can blame him. Think he will eventually sign back here but it never hurts to have other offers on the table.

Think he will eventually sign back here but it never hurts to have other offers on the table. There aren't that many starting jobs, he can look across the league and see what other starters make. After what he has accomplished and assuming we aren't under covid pay cuts again... You can expect him to be worth about 400-500 after incentives. He's worth it and Hamilton should get that on the table now with a signing bonus before the new year. Then both sides can stay quiet and he can act like he thought about it and the marketing team can get to work closer to season ticket time. Masoli was going to make 450 in 2020 before things fell apart. So it's right in the ballpark. Offer a 2-3 year deal and get it done.

I’d love to see it play out the way you describe. A coaching change could throw a monkey wrench in the plans of course, sometimes a new head guy will have a certain type of player in mind as his qb or Dane may have his own reservations working with a new co-ordinator etc. At this stage in his career I don’t see him being that guy to pick and choose his coach, he’s probably just looking to get a fair deal for himself.

BC has Reilly, and if he retires like i've heard rumoured, they still have Rourke. Edmonton just signed Arbuckle, but that doesn't mean a lot... but shiteshow, so who knows what they'll do... Winnipeg either has Collaros, or doesn't (but if they don't... he's available...) Saskatchewan still seems to be in love with Fajardo Calgary might decide to drop Bo, but if they do, it'll be because they REALLY like Maier.
Toronto probably sticks with MBT unless BLM magically becomes available... Montreal just signed VA I can't see Ottawa wanting to pay Dane AND Streveler... but seriously, Ottawa's such a shiteshow I can't see Dane wanting to go there.
All this leads me to believe this is a negotiation tactic, not a wish to go. Cats are probably playing hardball (as they should), and this is the returning salvo.

With Burke signing in Ottawa you would think one of our QBs would be a priority, but who does Lapo want would be a big question. I can't imagine Dane wouldn't be wanted as an upgrade by a bunch of teams if he was available (BC, Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto).

It's not a given that Masoli will get into the country next year, especially if things keep going the way they are. Allemang had better make a good offer to Evans right away in the hope that he'll re-sign with us. His agent is just as capable of doing the above breakdown as Espo is.

Any left-over cap money (if, indeed, there is any) can be used as a signing bonus before Jan 1 and won't affect next year's cap. No-brainer to do this in order to sign Dane to a contract.
