Quality writer.Cared about the city and it's sports. In an industry where just about every columnist wants you to know their opinions on politics and society and how dumb contrary opinions are Milton never did that. And for that, in particular, he should be praised for too.

Got a little safe in recent years but always enjoyed reading him over Edwards.

Got a little safe in recent years but always enjoyed reading him over Edwards. It's the difference between a journalist and a reporter.

Edwards tried to pry what US players thought about Trump winning the 2016 election. Absolute cringe. Bet the thought never even occurred to Milton.

Edwards tried to pry what US players thought about Trump winning the 2016 election. Absolute cringe. Bet the thought never even occurred to Milton. Love or hate him, Drew Edwards raised the online presence of the team and the CFL in a big way with first his daily blogs on the Scratching Post and then the creation of 3DownNation. He veered too often into tabloid territory for my taste but that seems to be pretty much par for the course these days and athletes themselves venture into Twitter and other media to give their take on social and political issues. Pretty sure he just foresaw what was coming (and partly pushed into it as his print media gig was dying off) and picked up the ball and ran with it. A little too enthusiastically, but if not him it would have been somebody else.

Josh Smith tweeted that he's "stepping away" from 3DN. While most of his recent stuff was about as vanilla as they come, at least he was another source of Ticats news and reading.

3DN can do better for a Ticat blogger. Some of the other guys are much better.

The guy's material read like long fan posts. It was *never* informative and that's what we need.

I guess you could say Josh sparked some debate and discussion and that is all you can expect from a basic fan viewpoint. He was never in the know and a little too homerish. JC Abbott seems to have a lot more football knowledge and John Hodge more balanced. I’d put Josh on the Ryan Ballantine level who writes for the Stamps, mostly fluff and biased to his fave team.
