50+ years since a 3 seed has made a Grey Cup according to Josh Smith.
10 years since the Grey Cup Champion was a team that did not win their Division.
"Anything can happen in the CFL"
Is that just another myth like the 20 second play clock or the "we have more scoring than the NFL"

He actually said East team in 53 years. I did the research (poorly) on the division winner thing. Winnipeg has been so dominant I completely forgot that they turned it on late in 2019. But really. So 2013 and 2019? That's not exactly NHL type crapshoot... There's a huge advantage to hosting the East/West final and more often than not one of those teams wins the cup. Note: the team with the top 5 records in MLB are currently 1-9 in the playoffs. Anything can happen in MLB. |

This "anything can happen" is the most obvious statement any sports fan can make. Of course,"anything can happen" in any sport. That is why you play the game. Cheerleaders over at The Prowl get a hard-on when the 'Cats win a game that most people thought they would lose......"Anything can happen", I told you so.....like nobody knows this.

Anything can happen isn't knowledge. It's a cope. Say it enough and eventually you're right.
Anything can happen happened in 1984 . Cats stun Argos in final (an upset that doesn't get talked about enough) but then didn't happen in the GC vs WPG.
Anything sort of happened in the 86 final and then really happened in the GC.
Point ? There's isn't one. I just like talking about old Ticats.

Point taken - outside of Winnipeg’s run in 2019, division winners definitely have had the upper hand with byes and being able to rest players ahead of playoffs. This year either of Montreal or Hamilton just feel like they’re being lead to slaughter in the east final. |
