Give A F*** Meter 1-10. Powell seems a solid 4. "I don't concern myself with results" yikes. Well, isn't that special.
And to think I just defended him on here... lol

I think it was a tortured way of saying I'm not going to obsess over the loss but look at ways of getting better. But, man, you gotta choose words better than that. Completely tone deaf to what expectations are especially this year. .

Just wondering where did all the Stein defenders disappear to over at The Prowl? Not a peep from any of them, but not very surprising. More important things to do, like adjust their skirts and pom poms.

"Boy, (eyeroll) are you sure you guys complain enough ? ( eyeroll) " etc.

Funny. I happened to watch his last video from the day before the game & had the thought that they don't give these guys any media training whatsoever after he asked a reporter to rephrase a question. This just cements it. As for the game, I thought he did ok in the first half, made some good throws. Then Mtl adjusted & took away what was working & apparently, we didn't expect that because we had no answer. Again. D played well first half. Little to no pressure on the most sacked QB in the league though. Stupid penalties again rear their ugly heads. What does it say when a fan for 48 years doesn't even get excited when the Cats score a TD because the expectation is the team will somehow find a way to blow a lead? This feels an awful lot like those shitty years in the late 70s when Mtl & Ott were the teams to beat in the East & we and the Argos were constantly scrapping for 3rd. The only difference is my apathy. Unsure if there's an Al Bruno to come along & fix this mess like he did then. The only other observation I have to make is that the players who seem to be playing the best are ones that came in as big name FAs: Butler, Thurman, Williams, Edwards, Sayles (Godwin is an exception, as is BLM for different reasons). These players signed as 1 year contracts & may not be here next year, depending on who's running this shitshow. The vets that we were supposed to lean on (Lawrence, Laurent, CVZ, Wynn, Adeleke, White, et al) are playing like shit for the most part. A 1 year contract means they still have to showcase their skills in case they decide to go elsewhere next year. Most of the vets I named will either be done or are secure based on their relationship with Stein. And yet, some on the prowl are trying to blame Young (don't get me wrong, I don't fall for his "aw, shucks" routine) or still, unbelievably, Condell. Man, what a time to be a Ticats fan.

The Stein stuff that is now acceptable to talk about openly is what we've been saying for two years.

I just hate the fact that I have to put up with this crap for the rest of the year when I could already see it coming before the season even started. Said it before and I'll say it again "we have a bunch of new players but we see the same old crap game after game". I know mid-season change rarely helps but you also can't do absolutely nothing. Holy &%$#@, one FIRST DOWN in the second half!!!! I'll be absolutely shocked if HSG or Stein address any problems during this bye week.

Apathy setting in. Of my group of 14, 2 of us were there tonight.
Sounds like my group of friends with one even torn about cheering for the RedBlacks over the Cats now.

Good write up but I disagree with the Condell part. His play calling is vanilla bs and very very predictable now which perhaps is related to a terrible Oline. However, when I was at the Redblacks game a fan next to me watching his first football game was calling Condells plays 8 out of 10 times.
If fans in the stands can predict your play then you are failing at your job as a coordinator.

I honestly skipped this game as I figured it would be a loss, yeah I am a negative nelly now when it comes to the team. I do think they have a good one in Powell who needs more seasoning but I see the potential there.
Stein should let Melanovich take over as HC and he move to the front office full time or he should leave the front office and HC full time.
How many more players can the team go through before Ownership finally realizes that coaching and the front office are the main problems with this team.

How many more players can the team go through before Ownership finally realizes that coaching and the front office are the main problems with this team. That’s probably what should happen but the only way I see him stepping down is if he/his family life is under severe stress to the point where walking away from the day to day coaching role is going to feel like a huge weight off his shoulders. Personally I don’t think he’s built that way to essentially admit he can no longer help right the ship - none of his interviews point inward or take any personal responsibility for the team. At this point, this is the team and coaching staff he created, he’ll have to live with it and the consequences for the remainder of the season. Can’t imagine Milanovich wanting to step into this mess with a 3rd string rookie qb, below average line talent and someone else’s co-ordinators but you never know. Next year they not only have to purge the coaches but seriously look at what Drew Allemang, Spencer Zimmerman and Ed Hervey bring to the table along with the scouting department. Wouldn’t surprise me to see a clean sweep there as well, they just might have to battle Riders for new front office staff.

I don't think Condell deserves a pass at all, but after all, they're down to a 4th string QB; playcalling is bound to be somewhat vanilla. Prior to Powell starting, the offence was struggling, so the answer is to usually restrict the playbook until the entire offence can get on the same page. What's most disturbing to me is the lack of any halftime adjustments at all. When the opposing D takes away your biggest weapon (Butler), and you have to expect they're going to do that, what's your answer to that? If you chose "continue trying what doesn't work", you've failed as a coordinator. If you went into the game not expecting that to happen, you've failed as a coordinator. I really think that Steinauer's biggest problem is taking the "next man up" philosophy" to the extreme. Yes, in a perfect world, a backup would perform to the same standards as a starter, but the world aint perfect. Talent levels vary. Players' grasps of the game vary. Powell is NOT going to be able to read a defence like Bo can. It's funny, because my previous employer did the same thing. They thought that by doing the same steps, anyone could come in & be successful. Well, in practice, the replacements couldn't match the experience, instinct, or attitude that made the replaced staff successful. You can't teach that shit. It's learned over an extended period, often painfully. That's why that company is barely keeping its head above water right now. It's also why so many of our past players are successful with new organizations: because they're allowed to play as themselves, not a starter whose skillset might be different from theirs. It's poor talent management, which I realize will come as a shock to us here.
