I didn't include aging veteran castoffs because they weren't brought in purposely to take over team.

Tee Martin Rocky Butler Does Timm Rosenbach count if he played in a different league? Now, a list of Ticat QBs who went on to better things on other teams would be informative. I'll start: Henry Burris - GC with Ottawa Anthony Calvillo - Poster Child Zach Collaros - two GTCs with Winnipeg A year after trade Clements helped obliterate HAM in 84 GC.

The only one that bothers me on that list is Collaros. The Calvillo thing has always been overblown. The notion we gave away a dynasty in Calvillo is ridiculous. The main thing about the Calvillo deal was that they got absolutely nothing for him. Just outright released him. Just like Collaros, Calvillo showed he had the skills to be a great quarterback in this league but in his last season in Hamilton he was saddled with a horrible offensive line and one of the worst starting receiving groups this team has ever put on the field in one season.

True. But he was a trainwreck at the end of 97. SSK passed on him for the same reasons. Then one has to believe coach, gm and ownership would have built a team around Calvillo for him to blossom. Then expect him to hang around the ownership crisis of 2003 without going to free agency or believe the outside the box era of 2004-8 would have given him the tools to succeed. It's not impossible he could have been a star here but it's asking a lot to believe.

Hard to imagine there's a receiving group worse than one that includes Papi White but anyways... Collaros to Calvillo is a stretch. Yes anyone with a clue could see that Calvillo had skills... but GOAT skills? At most he would have looked like a Kevin Glenn. It takes everything coming together to turn into what he did. Im with Dork, hard to believe that would have happened here.

He went to a team who just moved to MTL after winning a GC in Baltimore with an established, elite, veteran QB whom he understudied for 2 seasons.
So, no, he wasn't an instant success. And I agree that it would have been nigh impossible for him to replicate those feats in Hamilton.

so..... *pokes team with stick* .... do something? Thoughts: 1. The team is negotiating with their potential FAs, and there isn't much progress. Possible trade/release before FA starts? 2. The team is not interested in signing upcoming FAs. 3. The team is lo-balling the upcoming FAs and they want to see what they are offered on the open market. 4. The "Official Tampering Period" is coming soon, and both parties may be waiting on contract offers. 5. The upcoming FAs may be asking for both the moon and the stars.
6. The vaunted BLM signing did not, in fact, start the dominoes falling.

This team is getting serious now. They have signed pending free agent special teams player Myles Manalo. Whew!!! we dodged a bullet there.....didn't want him to be testing free agency.

This is what happens when the best of a bad bunch of receivers (White & Dunbar) get the lion's share of throws their way. Now their value is inflated in their own minds. I would hope that we're going to be moving on from some of our aging FAs, such as CVZ & Laurent. I still think Simoni gets one last kick at the can because of his leadership skills. Rolle, Kam Kelly & C Evans have to be re-signed imo.

Maybe the players are colluding for a change. Everyone wants to see free agency and drive salaries up.
