Back to Bummers for DE Cedric Wilcots.
Wilcots 6'3" 250. Been on Bummer radar since last year . Released in July '21. A standout at 2022 camp supposedly but nowhere to play of course with WPG line already set.
Since its from an organization thats sorta good at evaluating talent its an optimistic move. A welcome shakeup to an uninspired pass rush.

It says Darby has 23 tackles this year, but I honestly can't remember any of them. Maybe it's a good thing if you don't notice a DB? With the ones supposedly coming off the IR, at least this trade can dump a bit of salary and we get another backup Canadian DE/ST player.

Might explain the lack of playing time he got. I know nothing about Wilcots, but it feels like we should have gotten a better return.

A team like Bummers interested in a guy enough to be brought back and given a spot even if it was unclear where probably says something.

Probably should of held out for a draft pick too.

Pass rush was bordering on non-existent. Be thankful they've made an attempt to address it.

Made no sense to keep sitting Darby, guy seemed to make a difference when he was on the field. Wasn't playing his preferred position (Killer Kam not budging from that spot), wasn't starting in the secondary somehow (still dont understand why not based on his early season work) With Ciante Evans, Randle JR, and Woods all full participants at practice at least once this week, it makes sense to move him out, still don't understand how we didn't have room for him with how bad the secondary has been. (at least des lawrence is gone) With how depleted the DL is, it's gotta be worth something www.cfl.ca/2022/10/03/ticats-riders-injury-report-morrow-limited-on-mon/

For whatever reason Darby was in the doghouse most of the year. Agree with Espo in that he may have been brought in to challenge Kelly moreso than take a spot in the secondary. They probably weren’t impressed enough with his work in special teams to keep him as the extra db and might like the new pr guys more.
No one at DE has really stood out all year so Wilcots should get some playing time here and a chance to shine. Not a bad move for either team since Bombers are pretty beat up in the secondary right now.

Meant that there's plenty to be optimistic about Wilcott since WPG was that much interested in him. WPG may have done some quality scouting and player personnel management for us.
WPG being the team that found Dalton Schoen and HAM being the team that cut Acklin and re-signed Papi White.

It made sense when Woods was the 5th DB, at least he was a returner (and underrated cover teams guy) but when Des Lawrence is dressing in front of you and getting put on Geno Lewis,(sorry the MTL games really stand out) despite really only successfully covering him ONE game last year, you pissed someone off. he was an Allstar at Kelly's position in the west last year, and Kelly, to his credit, looked like he won that job. He was also an allstar safety in the east two seasons prior, and looked effective at boundary half early this year. Wonder who's soup he pissed in? As for DE, both Bennet and Howsare have had good games, just seemingly not at the same time. Hopefully he can step in and be a win for us for once

"It also seems fair to question whether or not the Ticats chose to bring back the right veterans from previous seasons. Dane Evans has not lived up to being the face of the franchise and, though his play has improved over the last couple of weeks, the start of the season was a mess. He turned the ball over at an alarming rate and there are legitimate questions about whether he can be the long-term answer for this team at quarterback." Didn't see this until you mentioned it (the evans part) Seems unfair given the porous state of the Oline to begin the year and the bargain bin receivers. Sure Dane struggled early, and made a lot of his own mistakes, but how much of that was him being under constant attack with a new center, new RT, new LT, and injured guards throughout
