Matthew S from TSN reports "shared" 1st team reps. While not much on the surface, it's a change. Evans apparently hasnt had reps in weeks. Not sure that's enough to mean he's starting. It's almost like they're preparing him a bit, should Masoli stink again

Even Steinauer, as stubborn as he appears to be, has to know that if Masoli craps the bed early in the ESF, he'll have to go to Dane to salvage any chance at the Cup. Shitty position to put Evans in, as the season could have been salvaged in any of the last 3 games against the Argos. I don't think Evans will start this week, but I bet he gets a half.

Ron Lancaster whole heartedly disagreed with a two QB system ,former CFL QB & TSN commentator Matt Dunigan doesn't like changing the QB at half time for example if any of those opinions matter? My favourite memory of the two QB system working was with Joe Zuger and Frank Cosentino if my faded memory serves me right , that combo seemed to work well , I know most folks around here weren't watching then probably. Why wouldn't an intelligent Football coach share the reps in practice for no other reason than injury insurance and needed depth . It's not like the QB who is playing needs all the reps ,they know the plays and the timing , the other QB and the rest of the team needs the reps together as well , intelligent decision by Coach Stienauer , I also hope he wasn't smiling in practice (sarcasm ) lets lighten up .....I also saw Coach smiling when Simoni talked to him when the Argo game was pretty much lost , Simoni watching the Argo Defence says...." Coach , they've got our playbook page for page " ,....Coach smiles, knowing that will change in the Eastern Final.....

I think the time has come to start thinking about starting QBs like starting pitchers or starting goalies. Pull him if he's ineffective, even if it's for a series or two to see what's going on from the sidelines. In hamilton's case, Orlondo would be replacing a mobile QB for a (more) pocket-passer. Usually it's the other way around for a change of pace.

They're from a different era, but they've both had an effect on the current crop of coaches, so their influence still lingers. Regardless, Steinauer this year has displayed a disturbing tendency to stick with what isn't working. However, I agree with your principle about sitting the qb even if it's for a couple of series to see the defence from the sidelines. If we really have a 1A & 1B situation, there's no real drop off from letting Evans run a couple of plays. Apart from that, while Masoli is the more mobile qb, Evans can still run the ball, like the Toronto game where he scrambled for a first down late, showing some real guts to pick it up. Besides, because Evans is more accurate with the deep ball, the defence would have to respect that, which might open up the odd qb draw.

I agree that he's more mobile than a guy like Ricky Ray, but he's certainly not a "run-first" QB. He reminds me more of a Mike Reilly that way - run when you HAVE to and the odd designed play.

I surmised Stein made Masoli some promises before this season. . Had no idea it was an omerta blood-oath.

Does tomorrow's game that means nothing mean Dane gets some playing time?
Does that at least mean he's more ready when we undoubtedly need him in a playoff game?

I'm really curious about how the team feels about Masoli starting. Of course, we'll never get that answer. I'd be surprised if at least a few didn't think Evans gives us a better chance to win.

Well, since Ottawa won last night we all know that today's game is just like a pre-season game. Play the starters for maybe the first quarter then start rotating in the back-ups. Players that should be getting limited playing time should at least be Masoli, Banks, Jackson (I'd rather not see him play at all), Laurent and Lawrence and any others who could use an extra week of healing time. I absolutely hate meaningless games especially when it doesn't matter to either team. Sure you play to win but nothing will get me excited about today's game. Yawn!!!!

Lawrence needs 3 tackles for the Ticats all-time record. Hope he gets it, then Steinauer let's him sit
