BC - 14K Montreal - 16K Calgary - 22k Winnipeg - 23K
At what point is there panic in the league office? Or is it there already. I've always been the guy to say "The CFL has survived this long, it will be fine" but are we witnessing a slow death of the CFL?

BC basically papered the stadium for their opening game. Second home game in a row (I know there was a bye-week) with inflation so high may have kept some people away. If the CFL is becoming too expensive for casual fans to attend...

The on-field product hasn't exactly been exciting so far either, unless you live in Vancouver.
Seriously, almost every game I have watched has been BAD football. I honestly think that the League is in one of it's periodic eras of relatively poor quarterbacking. Is there REALLY any -established- QB lighting the league on fire (BC doesn't count, at least not yet). BLM relies mostly on 50-50 balls and a short passing game, Zach is't having a great year (yet), and no other QB in the League should have our DBs quivvering in their boots.

Inflation, cost of living has to be a factor. Disposable income isn't so disposable anymore for a lot of people

Groceries and gas are eating up more of my fixed income. Shopping more at FreshCo and Food Basics rather than Loblaws or Farmboy.
I am honestly thinking of buying a PHEV Sorento.

I think it all contributes. But where are the young professionals that have the discretionary income?
We know the answer. They're not interested.

My friend who works with several 18-25 year olds (I'm not talking millenials) says he's seeing a trend where he says almost all of the young guys are not interested in ANY sports. More online gaming, cellphone crap type of things are what they enjoy. On another note I remember hearing the same things back in the '70's and '80's, that the CFL is an old man's game and here we are in 2022. There are still lots of young fans in today's CFL crowds.

Yeah but I talked to some guys in the Home Depot line and they disagree so....

The league has failed miserably in making the CFL relevant to elementary school kids. Should be a countrywide (not team by team) strategy to have touch, flag football leagues from grade 1 to high school. Should be tie ins with USports and junior football teams. Kids tickets should be way way discounted, not just in an end zone but in several family sections all through the stadium. Make preseason games a school day outing in May like junior hockey teams sometimes do.
NFL sponsors flag football in our country while Randy collects air miles having luncheons with the Icelandic football federation. Can the owners actually unite past their own narrow interests and have some vision for once? Too bad that’s a rhetorical question.

While I completely agree with you an the need to grow the game, Randy ain't the guy making the decisions.

Inflation, cost of living has to be a factor. Disposable income isn't so disposable anymore for a lot of people Time for the customary "if hockey's so popular in Canada, why do the playoff ratings suck?" answer.... It's been a notoriously shite year for weather. The nice weather's finally here... Restrictions are the lightest theyve been in the spring in years.... Maybe Thursday night in June with nice weather for the first time sounds like patio weather, not stadium weather.... maybe that Saturday double header is probably gonna be on at the bar anyway...
