Winnipeg
They pretty much handled Hamilton for 60 minutes but still don't look like their dominant selves. 3-0 is 3-0 and they are well on their way. Winnipeg next travels to Toronto where they lost last year.
BC
"Yeah but Edmonton sucks" is what we heard after week 1. Blowing out Toronto in the same fashion has me a believer is Rourke-mania. Point diff of 103-18 through 2 games. Not lost on me is the weapons he's surrounded with and how BC has quickly turned into a contender. You could make an argument for them at the top spot but the 2 wins vs 3 wins did it for me. Next up they go on the road to Ottawa which will be a must win for Ottawa and a "prove yourself on the road" game for BC.
Calgary
A comfortable win and Calgary is 3-0 and somewhat flying under the radar. They go into their bye with all sorts of confidence and are the 3rd undefeated team in the West. Bo looks confident in his weapons and could continue to be a force as the season moves on.
Montreal
This team could easily be 3-0, at minimum 2-1. They had Toronto dead to rights and so I rank them with the upper half of the board. Trevor Harris is proving that the decision to bench VAJ was the right one - and a convincing win over Sask has them in the early lead in the East.
Saskatchewan
Don't look now but Sask is out of a playoff spot. Ok it's early but a point differential of only +3 and there's some concern in Riderville. Next up the second half of the back to back with Montreal because, well its the CFL.
Ottawa
Don't look now but after 2 losses to the champs and BC coming to town does the term "must win" come to mind for Ottawa? Maybe not as it looks like its going to be another year where 7-8 wins gets you in the East playoffs hosting a playoff game, but Ottawa had a measuring stick with Winnipeg and they performed well, now they have to find a way to slow down BC.
Toronto
Through 2 games Toronto has underachieved. The Argos absolutely should have lost to Montreal, then the favourite to represent the East in the Grey Cup was walloped in BC. It wasn't really ever a game. Maybe the early 3rd down failure on the 1 changes things , but I doubt it. MBT has not looked good through 2 weeks and the Brandon Banks experiment is a little slow getting off the ground. They'll need a complete effort to beat Winnipeg in week 4.
Hamilton
Never really in the game against Winnipeg, Hamilton has some soul searching to do. Even if they didn't blow the 24 point lead against Calgary they'd be 1-2 because they weren't winning either of their other 2 losses. Could they once again take advantage of a terrible East? possibly. Could this be the year they plummet to the basement? I could see that too. If they lose the battle of the basement on Canada day that could indeed be the case.
Edmonton
This team isn't a dumpster fire. In fact they are probably well on their way to respectability again. The problem is they play in the West and they're not going to be in the playoff conversation this year when you look at what's in front of them.
