I'm at the point right now where I almost hope the team misses the playoffs.
I'm worried that if they do, no matter the outcome, then El Presidente might enjoy continual employment in Hamilton.
What do you guys think?

No way Mitchell could be that obtuse. Could he ? Nothing less than a bonified late season surge and GC birth can save him.

There is no way Stein should retain his job as head coach just because they make the playoffs in third place. I'm with Dork. The only way I see them retaining Stein is if he gets the team to the Grey Cup (and they don't necessarily have to win it).

Steinauer looks tired and frazzled to me. I say he and the team voluntarily split ways at the end of the season no matter what happens - even with an unlikely playoff run and Cup win. Would be the natural time to do so. Could see him going back to NCAA to get his mojo back but wouldn’t rule him out as a def coordinator somewhere in the CFL. If he and the Cats had faith in each other he would have signed a 2 year extension by this point.

Maybe it's me, but I can't see this team beating either Wpg or Tor, or for that matter, Mtl, BC or Calgary.
The nightmare scenario for me is Steinauer somehow winning enough games to save his job. I don't hate the guy; I just think he's a crap HC/football executive. Agree that he could end up as a DC for someone next year.

But he was given substantial money to build something-to prove his skills at whatever he and others claim he possesses and that's what makes it so galling. |
