Would've expected better than a 6th round pick, since Cgy was in a place of need with Vaughters going down

I know CVZ would be a better target, but I still believe that his passport makes a difference. Even if he is a backup. There are a few who came off the 6-game early, so their full salary counts against the cap. It would not surprise me if they are feeling a cap crunch. |

Pretty sure Davis was involved in some yapping between players in one of the early blowouts. First Argos game, maybe? Can't remember who the other player was, though. Regardless, the D line, which was supposed to be one of the strengths of this team, has now lost 2 guys, & isn't looking much like a strong point. If sig is right & it's a salary dump (and I'm sure that factored in to some degree with this move), this, combined with Fontana, clearly spells out that the team is over (or extremely close) to the cap limit. Regardless of everything else, I'm still shocked that Van Zeyl continues to be employed. I don't know if maybe he's got an eye to moving to a coaching position, a la Craig Butler, but that could be a reason why he's still around. |

Let's not forget the Seth Small debacle either. To summarize: players not seeming motivated, players not returning to team when expected, players who were expected to be in the mix getting injured then released, players taking undisciplined penalties EVERY game, players traded for less than apparent value. We can't be sure what's behind all this, but I'd wager it's not because the correct culture is in place. |

I always considered the Davis free agent signing a waste because he was already a non-factor when he played for the Argos last year. I think they signed him because of his record of getting to the Grey Cup game. Haven't seen anything from anybody from the defensive end position this year.
