Hard to say if Washington schemed the way he did based on his own preference or to fit the personnel he had. Pass rush tended to be weak especially from the ends, and older dbs who might not be able to run step for step anymore with faster receivers downfield. To me that adds up to protecting against the deep ball and giving up the underneath passes. Interesting also that Orlondo was a part of Stubler’s defences in Toronto, which were always veteran-laden and tended to be bend don’t break ( make offences string plays all the way down the field, assuming they’ll eventually screw up instead of giving up the home run shot). I’m sure Steinauer has a lot of influence on the defensive philosophy.
Personally I think we’d benefit from a couple new faces in the secondary, a little more size and speed who can deliver a hit. We definitely seem to be missing a physical presence back there.

You counter that kind of shit with an effective pass rush, so I really hope they address that in free agency.

We only scouted him, signed him and had him around for 3 years.

Mauldin was weighing offers from just Ottawa and us and don’t think he signed for much more than what we offered. He’ll be looking for close to Jeffcoat money this year.

If Mauldin gets any better Milton might actually have to point out one day it was a Stein mistake.

For what's it's worth Washington had no shortage of critics when he was DC for a bad BC team and no one complained when he left. And it should be pointed out he is a Stein hire and not a holdover from a previous regime like Condell.

www.cfl.ca/2022/11/18/true-grit-zach-collaros-road-to-back-to-back-mop-wins/Cody Fajardo blossomed in Collaros’ absence in Saskatchewan, with the Riders eventually trading Collaros back to the Argos on July 31. Still injured, Collaros never got to suit up for the Argos. He recalled on Thursday night that he was ready to sign an extension with the Argos, but was traded a minute before the trade deadline expired to the Bombers. The rest — a 33-4 record as the team’s starter and consecutive Grey Cup wins — is history in the making. “I was in Hamilton in 2019 and Toronto was shopping him,” Barker said. “I stood on the table — I wasn’t in Hamilton, I don’t know what went down in those years when he got hurt — I’m not casting any aspersions, I just knew as a player, wow if we could get him there…we had Jeremiah and Dane (Evans) but Jeremiah was hurt so we had just Dane. “I thought that would give us great depth going into the playoffs. Winnipeg ended up with him. For a lot of guys it’s about getting that opportunity in the right setting with the right coach and the right cast around.” Omg, gonna be sick. If we had traded for Collaros in 2019, we'd have won the Cup that year & if we kept him, last year as well. It's no coincidence Toronto improved so vastly when Barker went back & we tanked in comparison.

Winnipeg doesn't make it to the cup, Sask probably does, and their D doesn't do to us what Winnipeg's D did

I live in a world where MBT retires and Bo signs with the Argos. Oh well.

I doubt TSN is facilitating anything. I'd bet Pinball had Bo's number before any trade was made.

It would just like this inept front office to trade away draft picks for the the Rights to Bo Levi Mitchell only to have him sign with the Argonauts...

I hope Mitchell signs with another team because it will be the ultimate embarrassment. If that were to happen does anybody believe Stein would say "Evans is our guy"? I think that relationship is now fractured beyond repair.
