Man, with the team playing like it is, could only really ask for some big name receiver threat, don't know why the team didn't go out and get someone external. Like just check out the top receivers this year: www.cfl.ca/stats/?stat_category=receiving&season=2022#1 Winnipeg just finds a guy like Dalton Shoen, 1357 yards in 17 games beast #2 Rhymes has been lighting it up in BC with and without Rourke, just under 1300 in 16 games, huge #3 Geno Lewis is a killer, 1231 in 15 games (despite the fact i'm pretty sure he searches his own name on twitter after games) beast. #5 TIMMAY Looky here, we got one. 1152, 17 short of the next guy Imagine if he hadn't dropped half the targets that were in his damn hands this year #6 Malik Henry, huge receiver, makes either of Calgary's QBs look fantastic, just over 1000 in 13 games #7 Girly Kittens... fake name, not even a real person i'm pretty sure. 984 in 16, likely hits 1000, not bad for a non-import esp with MBT throwing at him. #8 Lucky Whitehead, huge name, re-signed in BC before he had a chance to go anywhere, 966 in 14, almost guaranteed to hit 1000, even if they rest him the last game. #9 Keon Hatcher, BC, fake, doesn't count, Rourke was a cheat code for too long 935 in 16. #10 Dunbar? thats neat.... two games left to pick up 77 yards for his 1000. really would be pretty deadly if we had another top 5 or 10 guy, be even cooler if we had one in house.... wonder who was at #4 btw....

(Lawler, Schaffer-Baker, and Begelton all within 150 of 1000, decent shot of getting there, another 4-5 with an outside shot of getting there if they go off a couple times)

Dunbar was supposed to make us forget all about Acklin sooo
Dunbar has:
a) Exceeded expectations b) Met expectations c) Sorta just average, isnt he ?
Mitigating circumstances but its C for me.

I'd kind of place Dunbar in the average category as well. Dunbar and T.White are the same in the consistency department. They can make some great catches and come up with some big plays but they both have also dropped some key passes when they were really needed. The only import receivers I would like to see back next year would be Dunbar, T.White and Anthony Johnson. They raved about Godwin in practice but he didn't show much in the one game he played so you can't really make a judgement on him.

If Dunbar had great hands he could get another look in the NFL as I think he’s got good speed/size. I tend to agree he’s been average and has had his share of drops - doesn’t come down with the ball enough when he’s blanketed by a db. If he works on this he’d be a huge asset.
Timmy is occasionally brilliant - I think his drops are a bit different than Dunbar in that they are more from hearing footsteps with a safety closing in ready to cream him. We saw what he can do Friday when he sells out and takes the hit. He may always have the tendency, some of the smaller receivers do and when you’re outweighed by 20-30 lbs it’s probably natural. If he’s willing to absorb more hits the way Banks did though, he’ll definitely become a top tier guy.
Johnson I want to see more of. Seems to know how to get open and could be a legitimate deep threat. Needs to stay healthy for sn extended period.
Speaking of healthy, what happens to Addison? Personally I really like him and he could become a reliable 2nd down conversion guy, with good speed and ability to pick up some tough yards. Not sure they hang onto him with all the injuries though.
Canadian receivers are still a big question mark. They’re not throwing to K. Smith much anymore, Ungerer and Ternowski have been in and out of the lineup. Burt has another year left but pretty much injury riddled for two years. Would love to see them pick up a big body like Schaffer-Baker or Justin MacInnis from Sask. can’t see them offering Durant another contract.

Agree with all of this, except....the way this team makes personnel decisions, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought Durant back, to everyone's frustration here.

IIRC, Addison's latest injury looked like an Achilles injury. That's usually a full-year's recovery.

If this team (notibly Condell) can get to a place where this OLine is solid (it's getting there) and we're going to be more balanced towards the run... I don't think we need to go all in at receiver.
1 solid receiver added to the group we have would be enough IMO.

Good faith question. What am I missing with Johnson. Not seeing it.

Fair enough, realistically i was looking at the league leaders and figured it was about time for another "damn, sure would be nice to have Acklin here still" thread

Settle for what you have. But as far as more weapons go Hills has been a shot in the arm . I think there's still more dividends to come.

“Razzle Dazzle” Brazzell was our big free agent signing around 2005-2006 if I recall. Flamed out about 2/3 of the way into the season. He was either traded or cut and wound up with the Bombers - seemed to be happier living in Stegall’s shadow.
I see Johnson as a guy we actually scouted, who’s caught some deep passes in preseason and in a couple of the games he’s been in and shows some promise and has some height. Last game wasn’t great, missed a big block on one of Hills runs, dropped a pass and just caught the one pass for the 2 pointer. It’s no more than a hunch but I think these guys need to play consistently, get used to the motion and hitting the line in stride, yada yada. If he can stay healthy the rest of the year and gives them some production I’m sure they’ll bring him back to camp. Just think we need a bigger sample size before we cut this guy loose. I’d say the same with Godwin.

Traded back to the Bombers after 6 games (ands subsequently put up more yards in his next two than he had in the previous 6) for Kamau Peterson, (I didn't hate the trade tbh) Brazzell played another two ish years.
