Except most if not all offenses have been preying on the secondary without difficulty. Stats can be deceiving but Hams defense is second to last in points allowed, middle of the pack in other categories But its pitchforks and torches from media and fans when QB and offense aren't competitive but a bad defense? We just have to accept it and pretend the odd picks and sacks are a sign of dominance. Not to be pedantic, but is that defensive points allowed, or TEAM points allowed? There were too many pic-6, strip-6, etc this year. Correction. HAM is third to last in points allowed by defense..

Still not a great stat for the amount of money Orlondo spent on it. I get that turnovers can give opponents excellent field position, but so do illegal kickoffs/punts, shanks, and No Yards penalties. Defence stops team, minimal return on punt and pinned deep, Offensive turnover, other team gets the ball in the red zone and scores on the next play. Score attributed to HAM Defence.
I'm going to beat this drum into submission, but if we had even an AVERAGE O-line from the beginning of the year, I truly believe our record would be completely different, if not opposite.

Stats are useful but when you use the informed fan eye test its a very ordinary and un-intimidating defense. Agree with Oline statement. With all the changes Gibson deserves praise for making this unit competitive again. He wont get it of course because, you know, its Hamilton.

Stats say that Timmeh leads the league in a number of receiving categories. Eye-test, garbage-time stats padding, dropped/clanked/tipped passes, The Kneel, etc...
The guy could be the second-coming of Earl Winfield (Praise Be His Name) if he didn't do all that all the time, and I would be cheering him just as much. It will be interesting to see if his performance carries over to Friday's game, but the only thing that's consistent with him is his inconsistency...

Again, what other team kicks down the door to get at Tim White and make him a featured rec ?

As Crash said - take away Timmeh's and Dunbar's receptions, and the rest of the corps is dismal.

Quality O-Linemen are in short supply league wide it seems. Hamilton, Toronto and the Riders have all had major issues this season with injuries and quality depth.

Just want to add this to my post above: When Danny Mac was our QB, we always had a chance to win. When the other team scored, his inclination was always to come right back, sling it deep & get it right back. Ditto when Collaros was here, until he got injured in 2015. I didn't really see this often from Masoli, but did see it from Dane in 2019 after he took over. I don't know how much of that is down to play calling or whatever, but that has always been the hallmark of a really good QB, and we saw it multiple times today. If that's the result of talking to that sports psychologist, I want more. The drive that chewed up over 7 minutes (?) of clock time in the 4th quarter was exactly what was needed, and sadly, what has been missing most of the year. They can't score if they don't have the ball. In previous games it would have been a 2 and out, and then look out as the opponent calmly marched down the field and got either the go-ahead TD or the TD that brought them within one score of the lead. That was what impressed me the most on Saturday.

You can (unfortunately) count on 1 hand the number times getting that "put away" drive actually happened. Many forget that we got in in the East Final after taking the lead, Toronto came down and made it a close game. We got the late drive that sealed it. It's easy to blame the offence for not scoring enough, or the defence for not stopping them enough but Championship teams get both. Winnipeg gets all the credit given to their D, but they get a lot from Zach and their Offense. We're going to need both if we're going to make a playoff push. Friday night we will quickly find out if this team woke up or just had a one time big win.

So I guess talking about coin flips is now verboten.
It's not the flip that's the issue, it's the decisions made as a RESULT of the flip that matter.
Can you imagine if it came down to a winning FG attempt into a stronger wind?

Can you imagine if it came down to a winning FG attempt into a stronger wind? While this was a great win, it would be premature to think all our problems are solved. Then again, what do I know? They were ready to believe I didn't know who Joe Flaherty was, when I use one of his characters as my handle. 🙄
