Consider this. Eugene Lewis is a free agent after this year. Let's see how real the Khari factor is and how serious the regime is about building a winner again. So is Weinike. If Khari stays in place of Condell, they might go after Vernon Adams ( sounded like they may have been kicking the tires before the BC trade). I don’t see Khari as being an Evans guy, probably wants someone more mobile. If those two moves fall into place, then I could see one or both of those receivers being interested in coming here. Defensively they’re going to have to make some tough decisions. I think Laurent and Johnson don’t come back. Adeleke is signed I think for 2023, outside of that could be big changes in the secondary. Most of those guys are on the wrong side of 30. Problem is they haven’t scouted anyone decent to fill their shoes. Simoni is signed but do they ask him to take a back seat and pay cut or just outright release him to free up some money? Dline outside of Wynn and occasionally Howsare isn’t getting it done consistently enough. I see more of a rebuild in 2023 than a retooling and go for the Cup. That front office has a lot of work to do, from scouting to free agency. Not sure they can turn this around in a season based on what we’ve seen to date.

I’ll say one thing for the team - they have made some moves to solidify the oline. If they can bring this group back together mostly intact that’s a head start. Van Zeyl may retire but I think Kelly fills in for him at right tackle and Saxelid if healthy moves to left tackle. They do need to draft at least one decent prospect in the early rounds though, and with trading our second rounder to Edm we can’t whiff on a reach pick like Burt again.

MTL FAs: Most if not all of this hope is predicated on how happy they are with Cantcoachya and staff . Can't imagine Lewis having much to complain about so it could come down to simply money. But HAM has to be player if there's a chance. Let's think big again.

Defending Stein because playing Newman and Morton was always the plan is peak 2022 ticat fan.

This organization needs to learn how to manage QBs. They've failed with Collaros, Masoli and now Evans. I truly don't believe they'll win a Cup unless they start taking the most important position on the field more seriously than they've done in the past. And that includes replacing Gibson as O line coach. If you identify a QB you want to lead your team, you have to protect him. Exhibit A: Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
