I was watching tonights's game (MTL currently destroying SSK) I got inspired to research the first six games of the last 7 seasons to see if I was right. Turns out I was:
2015: CAL, WPG, MTL, SSK, TOR, WPG - 4-2, EDF loss to OTT;
2016: TOR, BC, WPG, CAL, EDM, WPG - 3-3, EDSF loss to EDM;
2017: TOR, SSK, BC, EDM, CGY, EDM - 0-6, missed playoffs due to crossover;
2018: CAL, EDM, WPG, SSK, SSK, OTT - 2-4, EDF loss to OTT;
2019: SSK, TOR, MTL, MTL, CAL, WPG - 5-1, GC loss to WPG; 2021: WPG, SSK, MTL, TOR, TOR, CAL - 3-3, GC loss to WPG; and
2022: SSK, CAL, WPG, EDM, OTT, BC - 0-2 so far.
Out of the last SEVEN seasons, we have played an Eastern team 11 times in the first 6 games, leaving THIRTY-ONE against Western teams. Is there any other team with such an unbalanced schedule? Every year it seems as if Hamilton has the most dificult start to the season of any other team in the Leagus. The two years we had a winning record we were almost unstoppable with Zach in 2015 before he got injured, and in 2019 when we had 15 wins in the season and played THREE Eastern games to start (the most of any year I researched).
It seems as if Hamilton is behind the 8-ball at the beginning of every season, and the facts certainly seem to bear fruit.

Or we could just show up to a road game confident, well coached, well prepped and win once in a while. It's been known to happen.

I believe this is a trend that you will continue to see. The CFL will continue to have lots of early season matches with East vs. West. They want to save the majority of the inter-division games for the latter part of the season to keep fan interest up for possible playoff races in each division.

They want to save the majority of the inter-division games for the latter part of the season to keep fan interest up for possible playoff races in each division. The NFL likes this model too - but in the CFL with so many divisional games there's no reason you can't start with divisional, have labour day and then end with divisional. The below is absolutely a joke - From July 28th to September 23rd (2 full months of the season) Montreal @ Toronto Toronto @ Montreal @ Toronto Toronto Winnipeg @ Montreal What in the actual hell is that? Quite possibly the worst stretch in a schedule i've ever seen in a CFL schedule. As for the original post, I don't think it's unfair as much as the West is the superior division and we struggle with games out west. Not that I would like to ask Sigpig to do the work again but i'd like to see the breakdown of Home/Away. Of the 38 games he posted I would hope that 17-20 are at home, but I suspect that isn't the case.

I just went to the team site and clicked on the "Schedule" tab, and you can select whatever year you want. It might be something Mark Fulton would have done back in the day.
